Today was my third day at school. To my surprise, I had my classrooms all memorized already. So I took the bus to school and went to my human geo class. I‘m still surprised how little those kids know about the world. I encountered questions like: „Is Asia a continent?“ and „Is Belgium in Europe?“ XD
French class was exactely like the days before; without French….. Then 3rd period I had history that I‘ll drop tomorrow. We had the quiz and you can‘t belive how easy that was! It was multiple choice and I regret studying for this at all. I‘m still going to drop the class because I don‘t like the teacher.
The fourth period was debate and we just watched videos of the different categories of debate that the school offers. But this class was actually a little uncomfortable… Maybe you can remember that after the first day of school I said that I had made 3 new friends. One of them, a guy from debate, was hitting on me the whole weekend via SnapChat. And on Sunday I texted Michelle from my debate class and asked her for advice. She said she‘d talk to him for me, which I‘m really thankful for <3 So today he didn‘t speak a word to me in class. But it ended well; after school he texted me that we could still be friends and that there should be nothing awkward between us.
After debate I met with Jacob, a senior that‘s a friend of my host brother Luis. Since Jacob has his own car, we went to Whataburger that‘s about 10 minutes away from school. The whole lunch break wasn‘t really long though, so we had to kind of hurry. What‘s really cool is that he‘s really into music, and he‘ll give me some music sheets tomorrow, so I can play them on the piano. Anyway, since we are allowed to eat in class, I took my cup of tea to the next class.
In environmental science I made a few new friends; Maddy, Kaylie and Kasie. They were all really nice and suggested a lot of food and places I should try.
English class was really awesome, as always…. Our teacher Mrs Anderson is so cool and she even gave me a college t-shirt from her son‘s college Texas Tec. Our school has a special day once a week, where instead of the dresscode, we can wear college and school shirts. Since she had known that I didn‘t have one yet, she gave me one that she didn‘t need 🙂
The last lesson was stats, where we talked about the reason why statistics are important and how to handle the data. For a math class, stats really amazing. But I have to give the credit to the teacher, who is making it super fun.
After school, I took the bus back home. For a while I then played with Lady Bug (the dog) and afterwards I talked about an hour with my host dad about the American school system. The good thing is, Mexico seems to be closer to Europe than America in a lot of ways. So we both agreed that the American schools are the weird but fun ones. A little later we headed to the school to pick my host siblings up from band practise. The band was playing in the stadium, so my host dad and I went 15 minutes earlier to watch them a little. The band was impressive, but I prefered the color gards with their flags. They are extremely impressive! When the practise was over, Jacob introduced me to a bunch of seniors, which were all pretty nice. I really wanna get to know as many people as possible in this school year!
Afterwards we drove home, had dinner and watched some friends. Luckly I didn‘t have any homework. Or at least not that I would know……
